Road to Rodarte Spring 2010

Rodarte, was my very favorite Spring 2010 show. I mean they came ready to go to war and come out with detached heads! Described as a baroque world complete with dry ice and black grit. Think, knitwear draping printing and pastiche. Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte says “ We ruined everything” Style.com describes this collection as the apotheosis of the techniques, destroying everything painting, burned, shredding and sandpapering. . Fabrics including plastic macramé leather and crystals, as well as studded shoe collaboration with Nicholas Kirkwood. All inspired by a trip to Death Valley. Join us on the Journey! (tats included)

Ladies Who Brunch

Fashion week presents a great opportunity to get out mingle & meet new people. Most fashion bloggers have the chance to meet the other faces behind the blogs, & fashion lovers can meet the designers models & editors they've only dreamed of.If you're just starting out making a name for yourself in this industry & are being home schooled in fashion, which isn't accompanied by a list of must reads for the semester. You may feel a little overwhelmed at a table full of seem to know it all. The best advice I can give is advice that has worked for me. READ READ READ. Honey read everything in & about your field, listen to interviews, & observe.Think of you tube as your key to Fashion Week Paris, front row.The point is arm yourself with as much knowledge as you can absorb. What do you think the biggest difference between Euro & American designers, which of the two are your favorite & why? Yes be ready to back it up, & think outside the box! Don't just think Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Gucci, these designers are all great but give more. Give me Isabel Marant, Cristobal Balenciaga, Madame Gres, Rick Owens, and Charles James.

Is There a Doctor in the House? Someone Get Me a Bandage! Hervé Léger by Max Azria Spring 2010

I'm going to hate myself for this later but honestly I was slowly getting over the Herve Leger classic bandage dress. While it is classic it became a staple in every one's wardrobe which can be good for some and bad for others. Though Herve Leger's Bandage style dress collections can do no wrong in my eyes I was longing for something just as sleek just as sexy but fresh unexpected and brand new. If Bandages are to cuts what Herve Leger is to dresses, the fashion Gods answered my prayers and sent for full body casts. Bring on the shine braiding and crochet!

Give me fashion or Give me Death! Derek Lam Spring 2010

Derek Lam's entire collection is awesome! Its the spring we missed out on, and 2010 is just too far away! Polka dots were weaved through out his collection as were 1940's inspirations. The entire collection worked well together, like the pieces of a puzzle, the hair makeup and accessories were perfect compliments of the belted floral, dots, and dark denim. I love love love absolutely everything. I need it all! I'm officially hibernating until spring!

Zac Posen Spring 2010 Ready to Wear

After having been moved from Thursday night to Monday morning and leaving Bryant Park's big tent for the modest-in-comparison Altman Building it was clear that no one is exempt from the recession not even Zac, but after seeing his collection maybe NOT. Zac Posen's Spring 2010 collection was fun whimsy and fresh. I thought it was all about the 80's, baby but Zac whisked me into the early 90's with his hints of pop art color blocks and intricate patterns. Think the fresh Prince of Bel-Air meets a kick ass stylist who keeps his style in mind while incorporating sophisticated fun. Here are some of my favorite looks from the collection.

Zip Her Up Boys!

Zippers are showing up everywhere. Exposed on backs and fronts of dresses, across handbags and layered on this seasons hottest boots. Not only being used for function but for details, and embellishment. Giving ordinary items a hint of edge. This latest trend has also led to an entire heap of easy affordable D.I.Y's. Being the headband hoarder that I am I came across this DIY zipper headband courtesy of MJ trimming and thought I would share with fashionistas alike. Enjoy! M&J Trimming just got these new Zipper Rosettes. Here are some ideas of how you can make your own accessories or embellish the ones you already have. It’s a great way to get the look of this seaon’s strongest trends. They have a flat back that makes them easy to stitch or glue, depending on your project. They come as individual 2 ½” Rosettes and a larger 4″ version which comes with 4 Rosettes attached as one piece. If you want to make a headband, all you need to do is get a plain headband and glue the Rosette on the side. You can also use a hair clip or a hair comb. Fall is around the corner, so have fun and start getting ready for the season making your own accessories.-MJ Trimming

Skull Gang

"Pirate skulls and bones, sticks and stones and weed and bongs" I'm very diverse when it comes to fashion, I am not one thing more than another and never a complete look all at once. With the seasons ruffles draping and very Victorian looks, it can get very soft and romantic. I cant be all soft all the time, I'm just not that kind of girl. I have to mix elements, even if just small hints that say I may look sugar but I can get Spice and quick! What better way to add edge to your flowy garment then with an Alexander McQueen signature skull accessory? Here are some of my favorites. 1. Red Double Wrap Skull Charm Bracelet 2. Black Skull Ring 3. Skull Clutch, Crystal, Gold and Knuckle Duster 4. Faithful Bootie 5. Silks
