THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART'S Spring 2010 COSTUME INSTITUTE Benefit Gala, sponsored by GAP and CONDE NAST, Hosted by Co-chairs PATRICK ROBINSON, ANNA WINTOUR and OPRAH WINFREY

American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity
Taking place once a year, one of my absolute favorite event needs no introduction, but heres one anyway. The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume National Benefit, always brings out the best of the best in models celebs and socials and displays the most beautiful crafted most creative and intricate of designer textile dreams. Infusing 1800 Chicago world fair charm, and modern glamour, this event was nothing short of magical. From the A-list host to the renowned glitterati to my favorite little monster Gaga performing, fashion was everywhere to be found. While champagne-y nude colored gowns and gold embellishments seemed to be most popular no one trend was better than the next. They ranged from deep jewel tone plums and berries, floral prints, navy and tons of tool. Keeping it subtle in the bling department, there wasn't an abundance of neck candy however, for those who opted for extra sparkle, adorned gems form designers such as, Cartier, Fred Leighton, David Yurman, Harry Winston and Lorraine Schwartz just to name a few. Listed below are my ABSOLUTE top picks of the night in no particular order.

Jennifer Lopez, in Zuhair Murad, with Cartier and Stephen Russell jewels and a Leiber clutch

Rachel Roy with Liya Kebede, in a look by the designer, with Fred Leighton jewels.

Nicole Richie, in Marc Jacobs with Harry Winston jewels and a Marc Jacobs clutch.

Mila Kunis, in a Vera Wang Dress with Fred Leighton jewels

Sienna Miller, in Emilio Pucci, with Solange Azagury-Partridge jewels and Emilio Pucci shoes

Joy Bryant, in Marchesa, with Harry Winston jewels and a Marchesa clutch. I LOVE this, and I feel in my heart that Rachel Zoe had some hands in this look but, don't cosign that until I research more.

Jason Wu with Camilla Belle, in his design with Cartier jewels.

Eva Mendes, in Dolce & Gabbana with Verdura jewels and a Leiber clutch

Sarah Jessica Parker, in Halston Heritage, with Fred Leighton and VBH jewels.

Marion Cotillard, in Dior with a Dior clutch.

Marion Cotillard, in Dior with a Dior clutch.

Chanel Iman, in Michael Kors, with David Yurman jewels and Michael Kors shoes

Elizabeth Banks, in Gucci with Canturi jewels.

Lily Collins, in Chanel Haute Couture, with Chanel jewels

Blake Lively, in Marchesa, with Lorraine Schwartz jewels

All Types of Fab, Kimora Lee Simmons

I've been super focused on the business aspect of fashion, retail, lifestyle, and luxury branding. Which has consisted of networking, interworking, and some exciting reworking. In my travels, I was extremely fortunate, to have met, Kimora Lee Simmons at a business seminar. She was gorgeous to say the least smart, funny, extremely knowledgeable. She gave specific branding an development pointers and details when building your business or breaking into an already existing company. Very insightful and inspiring, fabulous and still very approachable and down to earth. Great lessons to be learned. Girl Power.

I also had the pleasure of meeting and having a brief chat with Christopher Michael, Kimora's makeup artist/friend. He was the epitome of effortless style. Very well tailored jeans, rich purple cashmere sweater and fantastic shoes. (I notice everything) He has a great spirit, and during our chat we discussed my previous fields and where I would like to head moving forward. Great personality, he's my favorite, because he is seems genuine, honest and straight forward, which are traits not easily found in this industry. And he knows his makeup, what else do you need???

Delivered! Barbie Loves Stila

Previously, I posted about the Barbie Loves Stila can collection. It totally slipped my mind until a received an email about it being on sale on one of my favorite sample sale sites. (Which you can check out in the right column of my blog, shameless plug but I clearly SO worth it) My favorite of all being the Malibu Barbie, naturally. Though all cans contained flattering colors, I adore pink lips, heavy mascara and bronzer, so this was the clear choice. In this particular can you were given, a 3 Pan Palette with a soft shimmering pale pink eye shadow, a sky blue eye shadow with white shimmer, and a golden bronze bronzer, Lip Glaze in Malibu, and Lash Visor Waterproof Mascara in Black I was initially skeptical because of my skin tone I wondered if the light blue shadow and bronzer that came in the pallette would show enough pigment but I was pleasently suprised! It was the perfect amount of pigment. The bronzer is perfect, one swipe gives a sun kissed glow and your able to build up a personalized fake-bake to your liking. The blue shadow is soft with just a hint of sparkle, and the gloss, comes in a delicate fleshy pink shade, nothing street walk more board walk and the complete look, is going to be my summer signature! Have a look for yourself pick one up for yourself here Barbie Loves Stila.

Be All That You Can Be

Not in the army silly! On Project Runway! This is actually a subliminal post, to a dear friend of mine who has all the creativity, smarts, and knowledge not to mention killer shoes and wardrobe, to not only own the next season of P.R but to shut it completely down. I can only hope this advertisement serves as the inspiration she needs as well as the kick in the pants! I also hope this is the motivation that a lot of other amazing designers out there take this step on to become a legacy. Go for it little monsters (in GAGA voice), I believe in all of you. (-;
