Black Girls Rock Awards 2009

This past weekend, Saturday October 17th was the 2009 Fourth Annual Black Girls Rock! awards. This star studded event was hosted by Actress Regina King and Tracee Ellis Ross. Honoring Mary J. Blige, Raven Symone, Sonia Sanchez, Naomi Campbell just to name a few.
Black Girls Rock! was founded by hip hop dj Beverly Bond and seeks to bring about awareness and change in the way in which young women of color are being portrayed and portraying themselves in hip hop culture. I feel empowered instantly!  Here are some of the fabulous women in entertainment who attended.

Paris Fashion Week* Lavin

What a lovely show! Starting with familiar black ruffles and evolving into a sea of deep oranges nudes pinks peaches and encrusted sequin. Alber Elbaz used ruffles suiting and draping and amazing jewelry to create this collection of cocktail dresses, jumpsuits, and coats that will be always remembered. Draping designers, take notes, this is how its done.

Paris Fashion Week Rick Owens

How Dreamy! Heres the Paris Rick Owens collection, very different from everything that we've seen in New York aside from the grey similarity. Its very fresh and creative and I love the arm candy.

7 For All Mankind Warehouse Sale

7 For All Mankind is having their first ever warehouse sale at the Metropolitan Pavilion. We were sceptical at first because they would not supply us with styles and pricing. Their PR representative, however, did assure us that pricing will be less than Gap's new line of jeans. If given the choice we would take a pair of 7s over Gap's $70 version and day of the week. Shoppers are encouraged to register ahead online. If you're looking for the best price, book a Sunday shopping appointment because prices drop each day of the sale.
Reports back from the LA 7s sale, which occurred last week, were mostly positive. If buying irregular or sample jeans make sure to look them over carefully. Embellished jeans, not surprisingly, cost a bit more. Fitting rooms are questionable so wear leggings. Most importantly, remember: Jeans that don't look great are worthless no matter how inexpensive. 7 For All Mankind Warehouse Sale Friday October 2nd, 2009 - Sunday October 4th, 2009 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Metropolitan Pavilion 123 West 18th Street, 5th Floor Register ahead online

If you are unfortunately not in the New York area on Friday, rest assure I have a fabulous alternative for you! Gilt. com is also having a 7 For All Mankind sale online! The perks with that is, Gilt allows returns, say the cut isn't right for you or you should have ordered a size up or down. Also you avoid the waiting in line and possible brawl over the last pair of "Roxanne" style in size 28. (We've all been there!!) The Gilt, sale starts at Friday at 12pm, my advice to you is to be on the website at from 11:50pm on and just wait it out. Things go quickly! Below you can find the invitation link to Gilt incase you need it. Happy Shopping and may the sample sale force be with you!

is your lucky day! the Outnet.com is having a sale on Azzedine Alaïa and
its well worth checking out.
