Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York Hervé Léger Fall 2010

"We realized that if you wear Hervé Léger, you have to be in shape," explained Lubov backstage after the show. "You know, you lace up tennis shoes, so we started to lace up bodices—and then moved on to ergonomics."

While keeping with the idea of the signature bandage dress, Hervé Léger took an already perfected idea and expanded. Putting a sporty twist on the Fall 2010 collection adding, mesh ribbons and of course, major banding in shades of nudes, as well as ink splashes. But, my most favorite element of the collection were the neoprane jackets and skinny legging like pants, which wearing I'm sure would be the equivalent to waking up with a rock star! To absolutely live for!

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York Erro Fall 2010

 “I see the idea of detachment, of taking something apart and using pieces in unexpected ways, as anoher exploration of the beauty of imperfection,” -Anna Larson

On Wednesday, February 10th, I witnessed black magic. Anna Larson, proved in Erro's Fall 2010 collection, that Black is and will always be, the new Black. Constructing the looks, with the idea of detachment in mind, an assortment of layered black fabrics were used to create this sleek cougar-esk collection. Each piece strong enough to work alone but, versatile enough to be layered and built into a more intricate look. Comprised of everything from fur, to knits, leggings and shoulder pads, the collection was very New York, very sophisticated, and very sexy. Vampy without dreary, black without boring, think exclusive modern goth with gladiator appeal and raven characteristics. Take a look

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York Nicole Miller Fall 2010

I was lucky to have gained last minute entry to Nicole Millers Fall 2010 ready to wear on Friday.  The collection was made up of mostly black, (not mad at that) sophistication, but with some edge! I was expecting, mature, slightly conservative, smart fashion. This collection, not only met but exceeded my expectations. While it was grown up, it most certainly wasn't boring, and the edgy kick was a pleasant surprise. Very city, very chic, Nicole Millers Fall 2010 included, skullies, leg warmers, tons of cashmere and killer coats! Here are my favorite looks from the collection.

BCBG MAX AZRIA FALL 2010 RTW

Colored blocked, muted tones with a pop of sequin, gave a modern feel to a bohemian look. Light weight silks and knits, layered and belted at the waist, this collection was focused more on reality than Fantasy and more consumer driven. Able to transition from summer right into fall, check out some of my favorite looks from todays collection.

Alexander McQueen Lives on

"On behalf of Lee McQueen's family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family.
Lee's family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this."

More from a personal perspective later, I currently can not. )-;

Mariska Hargitay / Olivia Benson

Law and Order SVU, is my absolute favorite show. While don't watch it for fashion purposes, as I do with a few of my other favorites. However,  I've taken notice on every episode character Olivia Benson, wears to small gold chains. Now, I'm quite busy, and I love the layered jewelry look but, I at times can't find the time to even layer t-shirts.  The purposeful symbolism behind this significant  jewelry is worth taking the extra time to layer up.
 The necklace she wears on every episode, says Fearlessness and is from her foundation, The Joyful Heart Foundation. Heres what she had to say about it;

"After taking the role of Detective Olivia Benson on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, I began to realize that the effects of an assault linger long after the bruises have healed.

So I became a trained victim’s advocate through the Mt. Sinai Sexual Assault & Violence Intervention (SAVI) Program and started to speak out and help raise awareness surrounding the issues of sexual assault and domestic violence. “

"One is a gold pendant engraved in Sanskrit with “Abhaya” meaning “Fearlessness.” You can purchase it on Joyful Heart’s web site (www.joyfulheartfoundation.org). The other necklace I wear is called the "Studio Waterfall." It's a yellow sapphire and diamond necklace from Michael Eigen Jewelers!!" Its for both her character and for Mariska,"The necklace Benson wears is part of Mariska Hargitay's real life. She spends a lot of her own time outside of the show working with sexual assault victims. One cause she is deeply involved in is the Joyful Heart Foundation, which is committed to the healing of rape and sexual assault victims. The pendant Mariska wears is called the “Fearlessness Necklace” and 100% of its sale profits go directly to the Joyful Heart Foundation. For more information on the foundation and the necklace you can go to Mariska.com and/or the joyfulheartfoundation"

Attitude Adjustment...Unofficial Chanel Markups

I received a few emails about the Chanel mark-ups and lack of inventory....I searched a few sites and heres the buzz so far...

The lack of Chanel inventory has more to do with dramatic economic shifts than a corporate scheme to manipulate customers, according to Patricia Pao, CEO of the Pao Principle, a global consulting firm for luxury companies.

Like many luxury brands, Chanel's sales fell off significantly when the economy made a quick nosedive, in September 2008, Pao explains. There was no other choice but to cut back significantly on production.

"It was a prudent move as demand did not pick up until Christmas 2009," Pao says. "The pent up demand surprised Chanel. Basically, by Christmas they had sold out of all of their basic stock in all of their boutiques in both RTW and accessories leaving them in a situation where they left a lot of money on the table."

Pao says, she thinks that the core Chanel customer has returned and the company will see healthy improvements for Spring 2010.

Better Late than Never

Remember a few months ago, the Jimmy Choo X H&M collection people waited in the rain online for? Well, I regret to inform you I wasn't one of them and never have I been so happy for a missed opportunity as I am when the same one arrives at a better time and for a way better price! While on a mad lunch break dash, we stopped in H&M just for fun and were able to find a few left items for the Jimmy Choo X H&M collection, for half off. At times for quality purposes I feel the half off price should be the retail price but, I've studied retail math for some time now, and mark up is a must. Anyway heres what we found a a fraction of the price.

The studded flats are my absolute favorite! They are super uncomfortable but worth every second of pain. The wrap belt is AWESOME, I've been wrapping my life away.  The tunic, is ok, fun with skinny jeans and the electric blue heels and I hardly stand up in, but what a great way to practice. All is right with the world. (or at least the fashion word)  (-;

Dear Chanel, Come Home.

By now I'm sure you have heard of the unfortunate outselling of the Chanel Classic Jumbo handbag and major price increase. A simple case of raising prices and bringing production to a pace that creates mass demand.  On Monday, Chanel prices surged somewhere between 15% and 20%. I thought that was all the bad news I could handle on a Monday morning alast there was more. It has become virtually impossible to purchase a Chanel Chassic Jumbo or 2.55, in store. Saks has a waiting list of a few hundred and Chanel on 57th, ohhh just a trivial 30-40 people ahead of you! Not to mention there is no real set date of when your purse will arrive because they are delivered in spurts, a bag here a bag there. This is awfully painful, with New York Fashion week just around the corner I know some Fifth Avenue girls with sweaty itchy shopping palms. So, reinforcements were called in and it was decided to just go with a different style.

Geez, this came out to about $3,040 tax included before increase.........GOD SAVE THE QUEEN
