Lightly Shaded..Rodarte for Target

Its been everywhere, the rumors the preiview the countdown the shipment, the results the reviews. Rodarte for Target has finally arrived and has been seen in magazines everywhere. I am a huge fan of Rodarte and when first hearing of the collaboration I was very much looking forward to it.  Unfortunately when I saw the preview for the collection, I was slightly confused. This wasn't the Rodarte I've grown to know and love. This seemed more Rachel Roy, Tracey Reese. Whom I both love and admire except this was suppose to be Rodarte. I felt a little jaded, so I held off on purchasing anything.  Recently I decided to give it a try and I went and tried on a few pieces. Hmm. I felt the pieces looked best layered and not standing alone and the quality left something to be desired. I understand this is target, but I also understood this was Rodarte, and I was expecting a little more quality wise. Though the available hoodie felt like it was made of sand paper the t-shirts were pretty cool, and the cardigans were ok, but I loved way more when layered with the tulle dress and my handy fur collar! I wasn't able to find the all the pieces that I was interested in like the belts and black cardigan. But I was able to find a few cool items. See below photos. (Excuse the fuzzy camera phone photos, undone hair and makeup-less face)

I ended up purchasing the black and white sequin animal print dress, grey cardigan, and nude color tulle dress. My favorite out of all my items is the grey cardigan, its goes great over the dresses and I imagine when paired with jeans and t-shirt will pull the look together.

Blair Waldorf Yellow Cardigan

Gossip Girl is one of my favorite shows and when I see certain items I can say that is something Serena would wear or that would fit Blair well. I guess the same as stylist will say "This piece is very Jennifer Lopez-esq. While out shopping with a friend recently, I came across a sweater that felt new but familiar so I did some extensive research and heres what I found.  On a May episode of Gossip Girl, Blair seen here wore this sweater;

The yellow and gold cardigan with round neckline, three-quarter sleeves and beaded detail made of cotton and Italian material was designed by Milli and available at Neiman Marcus. Originally priced at $340 but, went on sale and was reduced to $114.

Unfortunately, the Milly cardigan is no longer available on the Neiman Marcus website, HOWEVER, I found an alternative. International Concepts (INC) has made their own version which is not only available but currently on sale for $59.99 marked down from $79.99 on the Macy's website and in stores. Photos below;

I actually think I like the sleeves on the INC cardigan and the length, more than the Milly version but I love the material Milly used for their version

Gilt Noir

GILT NOIR: GILT GROUPE FOR THE ELITES

"It's no longer insider-y enough to be a member of the online sample-sale service Gilt Groupe. Now the company has quietly launched Gilt Noir, a membership level for the top .01 percent of its customers. Celerie Kemble, Marjorie Gubelman, Gwyneth Paltrow and Google vice president Marissa Mayer were among the 2,000 charter Noir invitees chosen by a vetting team, headed by Gilt founders Alexis Maybank and Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, that considered only shoppers who spent at least $10,000 last year through Gilt Groupe.

In addition to previewing all sales 15 minutes before they go live to the hoi polloi, Noir members will have access to special events, such as wine tastings at Christie's, cooking classes with Waverly Inn chef John DeLucie and training sessions with the U.S. ski team in New Zealand."- W magazine

Francesco Scognamigli Spring Summer Collection 2010

What You Need to Know;

Born in 1975 in Pompeii, near Naples, Francesco Scognamiglio opened his first atelier when he was 23. Since then his career has been constantly on the rise thanks to his designs often characterised by a strange dichotomy between research, experimentation and avant-garde inspirations on one side and the traditional principles of the Neapolitan tailoring school on the other. This perennial dichotomy came back in Scognamiglio’s Spring/Summer 09 collection: perfectly tailored cropped jackets were paired with black plastic see-through trousers; there was an emphasis on sleeves, shoulders and shoulder-pads, often decorated with ethereal feathers; sculpted ruffles appeared on necklines, skirts and dresses, alternated to cascades of roses. Soft and light fabrics were juxtaposed to stiffer fabrics used to create more structured volumes and silhouettes. This bi-dimensionality allowed the outfits to acquire a new form as the fabrics created chiaroscuro effects and a tactile experience exalted by the body’s movement. Scognamiglio’s ivory silky suits and his signature organza blouses were impeccable, while his rigid coat dresses mirrored the personality of the muse the young designer had in mind when he designed this collection, a self-confident and warrior-like, though highly sensual and sexy, woman.

What You Need to See;

Embellished Incentives

Tonight I am convinced this has to be the coldest winter ever! Out shopping most of the day with friends, I am still frozen while at home, typing this with winter over coat and gloves. Winter coat because I'm still cold, gloves just because, you know....They Rock. So I began thinking if I didn't absolutely need to go outside until spring I could definitely handle staying in, but if I had to go I would need some parting gifts....
