Valley of the Dolls

Valley of the Dolls

Valley and Portia & Manny Open

You’re supposed to be revamping your career, tightening your belt, and spending time with the people who matter to you.

But while you’ve been trolling the web pantless from your loft bed, Nina and Julia Werman have been on the move.

The sisters reimagined their LES boutique (Valley) as a salon and relocated to Nolita, where they set up beauty shop in the old Hollywood space.

Their gang of pros came with them: Lavinia, the expert waxer; Emma, the graceful facialist; and Mika’s Japanese nail art mani/pedi stations.

New for you: Minx, light therapy skin treatments, and product lines like Nature Girl Organics.

Pal Christina Kornilakis (of Sweet Tater fame) split the space for her new shop-in-a-shop, Portia & Manny, lining racks with vintage Dior, Betsey Johnson’s ’80s punk label, thrifty Greek tunics, shoes, and — soon enough — a one-size-fits-all-curves dress collection.

So you won’t have to think about downsizing.

I wanna be like Mike

If you were hoping to get your hands on that crystal embellished Balmain jacket from Spring 09, you'll have to wait until Net-a-Porter gets their re-order or look elsewhere. The $11,410 which went on sale for $6,389.60 jacket sold out in, as far as we can tell, less than 24 hours. It's hard to say how many pieces Net-a-Porter had in stock but even if there were only three or four, we still find it somewhat jaw-dropping. Wealthy women have always spent unbelievable sums of money on clothing, but never has the process been so public. After all, there's a big difference between picking up a pair of thousand-dollar Louboutins and spending eleven times that much on one very bedazzled piece of outerwear. Or isn't there?

*Te Quiero Papi * Fathers Day Chic

Father's Day is coming and om 100% sure your husband or father can not stomach another tie. Seriously. If you've noticed, your expensive razor with the attached moisture bar became a lot more dull in a shorter amount of time than usual. Your La Mer creme container is almost empty. Is there a hungry hairy dry monster in your medicine cabinet like the one in the dryer who eats socks? Of course not! Its the male in your house and hes craving pampering! He wants smooth moisturized skin just as much as you do, so this fathers day why not give it to him!

Mugler for Beyonce

In this month's Marie Claire, Beyonce is featured in a few of the 58 costumes Thierry Mugler designed for her world tour. Beyonce lured Mugler out of retirement (he quit couture in 2003) after seeing his work in the "Superheroes" exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In addition to outfitting Beyonce the designer icon serves as her creative advisor weighing in on choreography, lighting and sets say Mark Healy of Marie Claire.

Thierry Mugler's team: assistant and Project Runway alum Chris March (right) and director of style Yves Pagan.

Vintage Mugler stunners waited in the wings

Check out the below photos taken by noted photographer Gilles Bensimon.

Jacket, bodysuit, thigh-highs, and shoes, Thierry Mugler for Beyoncé; earrings, bracelet, ring, and anklet, Lawrence Vrba for Thierry Mugler.

Mugler says his costumes were inspired by the words feminine, free, warrior, and fierce.

The Other Solange

Yellow gold and diamond ring, Solange Azagury-Partridge, price upon request, at Solange Azagury-Partridge, NYC ****DIES**** Seriously

Que Chulaaaaa!

Recently while watching an amazing documentary on Marc Jacobs on the IFC channel, he mention the mixing of hard with soft, flowy with punk...and I was inspired. Since, I have been mixing up my style somewhat. Ive never been a punk type of girl however I've been mixing punk chic pieces with other more delicate items and the result is eclectic and unique. A great example of this idea is the above Glam Rock dress at Forever 21. The pink tool lining makes it sweet and delicate but if you add a studded belt it gives you an edge... LOVE

I came across this sterling silver cuff by Beverly Cole for Que Chula for $350. It was featured last month in Elle magazine and would be a great piece to add to my collection and I'm sure your collection as well and is available at quechulastyle.com

Eluxury.com is saying Goodbye

This will come as a shock to most of you. Online LVMH-owned e-tailer eLuxury.com will be closing its retail operation. eLuxury, known for high end designer handbags, including Louis Vuitton, will be transitioning its site into an online magazine focusing on luxury markets. The doors to the retail operation will close and a spokeswoman from LVMH claimed this transition is because many of the brands eLuxury sells have developed their own online presences. According to The luxe chronicles, there might be another reason : Despite having the kind of unprecedented access to some of the most desirable luxury and fashion merchandise in the world and the kind of financial heft and expertise only a luxury empire of LVMH’s magnitude can deploy, they never became the premiere destination for online luxury shopping they were once destined to become. The website sold brands like Louis Vuitton, Dior, Fendi and others. While it's sad to see eLuxury go, if you want to shop on the site, now is the time. The discounts are deep, the Dolce & Gabbana halter dress shown at right was $3,670 but is now $734. You can shop now through June 26.

Hi, my name is Saroya and I LOVE Sample Sales!

This is the best time of the year, when designers and retailers rid themselves of extra merchandise that didn't move seasons prior. Its a fashionista's Christmas! So, if you're like me you have a busy weekend ahead! Best advice I can give you, wear leggings and a tank top you may need to strip down and try things on in the open. Wear comfortable shoes *Fabulous*, but comfortable that offer easy slip off action. Pack your patience and the elbow to rib cage works well when snagging the last pair of Jimmy Choo's in your size. Take no prisoners ladies! Happy Shopping!
